I realize that this website is large and somewhat exhausting to look through in any full kind of way. It’s eclectic and random and I should probably offer some sort of achievement certificate for anyone who can prove they’ve actually read the whole thing.
But sometimes someone hits on something in there that even I’ve forgotten that I wrote. This was the case this week when I was contacted by Chicago Tribune writer Charles Leroux about an obscure article on my site, wanting to know if he can mention it in his article about something he saw in an ad during the Superbowl. The article he ended up writing is E-Trade baby ad puts ‘shankopotamus’ in play and is in reference to this ad.
The article in the Tribune makes reference and quotes this article from the 2004 article here: Terms of Endearment: The Evolution of Nicknames …frankly an article that I’d always figured maybe 3 people tops had ever even read which discusses the ridiculous names that my ex-husband and I came up with for each other.
